Little Bridge by Leonid Afremov
The Bridge Project
at Bridging the Gap Community Center
About:
Creating social responsibility in the lives of middle school age youths.
The Bridge Project Mission:
Our mission is to provide a bridge towards academic success, literacy and social stability for
youths.
Description:
Youths need safe, stimulating places to go after school and during the summer, but working parents
with extended commutes leave thousands of young people unsupervised each day. A lack of meaningful
adult supervision increases poor grades, truancy, risk-taking behavior, substance abuse and deaths.
We want to develop Twenty to twenty-five youths each year and make them forerunners in their
communities to build social responsibility.
It is our goal to create a loving and caring community for all of the youths who attend Bridge
Project After School or Summer Camp. You may ask: How do we create this community? Well, we work
very hard to create an initiative that is welcoming and friendly; we affirm differences and honor
diverse beliefs; we encourage growth; and we connect role models that help young people understand
the importance of having the courage, knowledge, and strength to live out their values in the world.
We rely on resident based ideas and desires to collectively motivate our community.
